After a recap of the previous episodes, Cameron is shown lying damaged in the jeep while she replays the events leading up to the explosion.
In the house, having heard the explosion, Sarah and John attempt to flee only to be cut of by Sarkissian and one of his men pointing their guns at the Connors. Meanwhile, Cameron reactivates, and, after rerouting power, climbs out of the Jeep and begins to hobble towards the house. As Sarah and John are dragged up the stars and bound, it is revealed that Cameron's chip is damaged.
Sarkissian beats Sarah while his man ransacks the house looking for a hard drive, and John tries to free himself. When Cameron enters the house she knocks the man out and takes his gun, then climbs the stairs leaving a burning lighter to ignite spilled kerosene. When she reaches the room the Connors are in John has freed himself and Sarkissian is dead; Cameron identifies John Connor and a Terminate command flashes in her vision. When she raises her gun the stairs collapse under her and the Connors flee through the window.
Cromartie leaves the scene of the FBI massacre as Charley Dixon comes to help. Afterwards the body of the man whose identity Cromartie took is identified by Agent Ellison as the killer. Charley questions if the FBI believe that man could have done it, so Ellison asks if they will believe what really happened.
Sarah and Connor speed down the road in a minivan while Sarah asks her son if he is alright crashing into a car. They stumble out of the van and begin to run despite John being injured and bleeding from the leg. Cameron limps down the sidewalk after the Connors while Charley hears the call for a house fire and rushes to the Connors' house finding the bodies of Sarkissian and his accomplice.
Charley is looking around at the house and burnt Jeep when he notices the back o his ambulance open. When he gos to investigate he finds Derek Reese inside and asks him about what happened and where the Connors are. Derek tells Charley about the deal they were supposed to have with Sarkissian that went bad and the hard drive they stole. When asked what was on the drive, Derek replies that it could help them find the Turk and then explains that while it plays chess now, it is going to blow up the world in the future. Charley then hears the call for the wreck and decides to check it out since it could be the Connors.
As the house explosion is being covered on the news we see a redheaded woman in her office talking to a man named Mr. Walsh who has acquired the Turk. After finishing her phone call and getting the time the Turk will be delivered, she calls her secretary and calls a meeting of the department heads.
Cameron enters a store and cleans herself up then staples her face back together while Charley finds out that the Connors ran off to the south and drives off with Derek to find them, being seen by Cameron.
The Connors enter a church where a baptism is in progress and ask for sanctuary, insisting the family leaves as the Priest leads them to a place they can hide. In the ambulance Derek questions Charley why he is trying to find the Connors and asks if he is planning on joining them or something to which Charley replies he has a family and just wants to know the Connors are alright.
As Cameron finds a trail of blood, the redhead meets with the man she had been talking to on the phone telling him the money will be deposited in his account. The man asks why she is paying him so well for the machine. The woman explains that from afar you can tell what the masses will do, but that up close you can never be sure what they will do. She then explains that computers will always follow the rules till they are given new ones or break, and explains that it is extremely rare to find one that will disobey the rules as she strokes the Turk.
Sarah presses John to talk about what happened, but when he refuses she turns the subject towards Cameron. They decide that she must be destroyed since she knows everything about them, their contingency plans, bank accounts, where they will go.
Agent Ellison is questioned about his incident report by another agent with most of he answers being that Ellison isn't sure of what caused the events causing the agent to remark that Ellison surviving was amazing. After being offered counseling services and leave time, Agent Ellison attests that the case report is truthful and accurate to his knowledge.
Cameron follows the trail of blood to the Church the Connors are hiding in and asks the priest about the Connors being told no one is there. She walks up to the the baptismal pool where the Connors electrocute her. John tries to get the chip out of Cameron's head but can't get the cap off in time and the Connors are forced to run stealing an SUV. They drive down a cramped spillway only to be flipped into a canal by Cameron.
John flees the wreck as Sarah drags herself out and Cameron tries to get her to call for John eventually stepping on her wounds. When John keeps running Sarah Tells Cameron that John won't come back; Cameron affirms this and begins to follow John knocking Sarah down when she tries to get up.
John runs into a warehouse to find a vehicle followed by Cameron who searches for his body heat. John Tries to hot-wire a truck but ends up only drawing Cameron's attention who walks towards the truck with a pipe wrench. As John starts the truck Cameron throws the wrench at his head which he dodges.
When John looks back up, Sarah comes racing up in a large truck pinning Cameron between it and the truck John is in. John scrambles to take the chip out of Cameron's head and she begins pleading, claiming that she was just running a test and is fixed now. She apologizes and claims she loves John before he pulls her chip out.
Derek and Charley arrive and Charley gives medical attention to the Connors while Derek says they should have called earlier and says they should leave before the cops arrive. He asks if John "saw it all" which Sarah sadly affirms. John mentions to Derek that Charley told him about the FBI massacre and says that it is his fault. Derek says that the real reason the agents are dead is that some people refuse to believe that terminators carry death with them, causing John to reply that Cameron is different and mentioning Cameron's chip was damaged and could be repaired.
Sarah tells John that even though she knows he can and wants to repair Cameron's chip, she can't let him do that. John tells her that she is suggesting murder before mentioning that they should leave. In the ambulance Sarah tells John that what Cameron said wasn't true, that terminators don't have feelings and can't feel love.
When the group tries to destroy Cameron John asks for a flare, but after taking one last look at Cameron he apologizes and puts Cameron's chip back in. Seeing John pointing a gun at her, Cameron asks if John is here to kill her, and John counters by asking if she is there to kill him. When she says "no" he asks her to promise and gives her his gun. Cameron overrides the terminate order then she promises to John and hands the gun back.
Ellison stands outside of the Connors' house where he sees Cromartie. He tells Cromartie he will never do the devils work and tell him where he Connors are. Cromartie responds 'We'll see" and walks off.
The redhead walks into the meeting and announces a new division called Babylon that will draw experts from many other divisions. After being questioned by the head of the AI division she says the new project will change the world.
Sarah makes sandwiches for everyone and when she asks Cameron where John is she is told John is in the shower. Cameron asks Sarah if she believes in the resurrection of Jesus claiming she was never programmed for religion. After Sarah says that she isn't either, Cameron tells her not to let John bring her back if she goes bad again.
Sarah tries to tell John that what happened was not his fault and that them being alive would have to be enough. As she is talking to him, we see John cutting his hair.
After the meeting the head of the AI division is talking to the head of another division, saying most of what she said didn't make much sense and complains about her cannibalizing his division. He goes to use a urinal claiming she pisses him off, and then the urinal forms into the woman who apologizes but says the feeling is mutual and kills him.
